History

The Mizuumi Clan Anime Club was founded in 2003 by Sarah B, James M, and Michelle G - three Our Lady of the Lake University students with a common interest in Japanese Culture and Animation. Originally, the three approached the Japanese History teacher at the University to sponsor the organization, but she had too many prior committments and referred them to a staff member, Darrell H. He was only too happy to join as the sponsor, and thus was born OLLU's first special interest student organization focused on Japan.

After months of paperwork, constant contact with administrators and other students, and negotiations with the university's Student Government Association, the Mizuumi Clan became an officially Recognized Student Organization! The Mizuumi Clan is unique among RSOs in that it meets on a weekly basis. There are no dues or fees of any kind, and all members of the OLLU community are welcome to attend one or all meetings. The club normally has an end-of-year banquet to celebrate the successful completion of the academic year and to enjoy the company of fellow Clan members.
