Thanks to all the members who attended and to the festival attendees who stopped by our table. We talked to many, many people who are interested in anime. I was pleased to see people of all ages: as young as junior high all the way up to senior citizens. I always say "No matter what you like, there's an anime genre for you" and I really believe that.
We gave away lots of papers. Our Texas Anime Conventions sheet was probably the most frequently picked up one. I am sorry that I was not aware of the San Antonio anime convention at the time that I created the sheet. I've added a link to that here.
Texas Anime Conventions
--------------------------
Oni-Con - October 20-22, 2006 in Houston
Ushiko's Anime Block Party - January 26-28, 2007 in Austin
A-Kon 18 - June 1-3, 2007 in Dallas
San-Japan - July 13-15 in San Antonio
We had a great time and look forward to next year. I have to say that I particularly enjoyed the Kendo demonstration.
[festival photos will be here]
Changing subjects, our next meeting is coming up on Friday, Oct 20th. We'll be showing "Pet Shop of Horrors" in honor of Halloween. Hope to see you there!

Japan Matsuri 2006
The Mizuumi Anime Club would like to invite the University community to attend the Japan-America Society of San Antonio’s “Japan Matsuri” on October 14th at the downtown Central Library. The festival runs from 11am to 4pm and will include a Shakuhachi (Bamboo Flute) performance by OLLU’s own Dr. Martha Fabrique. The Anime club will also have a table providing attendees with information about anime: What it is, the different kinds available, and where to find it. More information and a complete schedule is available here.
JAS-SA's website is here for info on that organization.

Aug 31 Meeting
Thanx to everyone that joined us at our first meeting of the semester. For future reference, I, Jose Luis aka Spawn, am the president here at the Mizuumi so any concerns, questions, or suggestions you might have, feel free to email me at udelajl@lake.ollusa.edu or warmachinex@gmail.com. We saw a lot of new faces at the meeting and I look forward to seeing more of you guys show up. Several of you expressed concerns to me that some of your friends wanted to come to the meetings but were unable to due to work. I am looking to have another meeting on Fridays, but it is not for sure yet as to I do not whether there are classes in that room at that time. I will let you all know when I know for sure. I want for everyone to enjoy themselves at the meetings, so please let me know of any ideas you might have to make the club better. See you all next time!

Club Rush 06 Wrap-up
We had a great turnout for Club Rush 06, and I truly enjoyed chatting with everyone who came by the table. We had 23 people sign up for our mailing list, which pleased me greatly.
We gave away a ton of our traditional "Lucky Candies" with a little tag which hopefully led YOU to our website. We're excited about our first meeting of the semester Thursday (Aug 31) at 6:15pm in Library 119. We have a new room this semester that I hope will be excellent for us. No windows, so we can have a real "theater" experience. We're planning on showing Akira, which is a really great movie. In fact, many consider it to be an anime classic.
Feel free to join us for this meeting or any (and hopefully all) throughout the semester. You are welcome to bring food and drink, but don't spill 'em!!! The plan is to meet every Thursday at this time and place. You should see flyers on campus bulletin boards for future meetings.
And here are some pictures from the event...

I'm afraid it didn't last long after this shot. ^_^

Welcome to our new and returning members!!!

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone at Club Rush. I've been in contact with some prospective members (you know who you are) and am really looking for a good turnout.
Look for the Mizuumi table; we'll be the ones with the AMVs, posters, manga, and of course our traditional Lucky Candies! ^_^ Sign up for our mailing list at the table!
I'll put up some pix after the event!

Summer News
It's a hot summer here in San Antonio, and we are all dreaming of a nice cold Kaki Gori (Nihongo for Snow Cone)! ^_^
To all our members and friends, I hope your summer is going well. We are look forward to a great year starting with Club Rush in the fall! When we have the dates and time for that, it will be up here. Please come by our table!!! See what we did last year?
We'll also be starting our weekly meetings up again shortly after school starts. The current plan is to continue with the new meeting day which is Thursday evening. It seems to work well.
If anyone has questions, please email us at mizuumi (at) ollusa (dot) edu!

ADV Films @ Drafthouse
In case anyone is interested, Alamo Drafthouse has started their ADV Films series again. There is some question as to whether the screenings are free or not, but the most recent version of their website says that they are. Screenings are Mondays at 7:30pm. When I'm sure that they are free, I'll update this post.
[Update:] The Drafthouse shows are indeed free! All you do is go to the bar, put your name down on the sign-in, and go in. The guys that run it usually have a table in the hall outside the theater with stuff to look at and also give away good door prizes at the end. It was very enjoyable!!! The food at Drafthouse is great. Since the show is free, you should consider doing them the courtesy of buying something even if it is just chili cheese fries. :) I plan on going again as soon as possible. I'd love to make this a club trip some Monday. Leave a comment if you're interested in going...

New Blood
This is Mp3. For those of you who have been wondering, the anime club is undergoing revision. I was charged with writing a new constitution which was to take in the input from the past. The new constitution has been written and submitted for approval. If anyone wants to look at the new document, please ask me and I will show it to you. As someone who has been in five anime clubs, I hope to make this one last.

A New Mizuumi
After an extended period of inactivity, work is now being done to reform the Mizuumi Anime Club. More information will be posted here and around campus. Meeetings should resume soon. The club will hopefully participate in more events, have meetings more frequently, and accept input from a wider audience. All are welcome in the new Mizuumi Anime Club!

Welcome Back
Welcome back all, I hope that your classes are going well so far this semester. We have sent in a request to get the library room 102 where we met last year again. Our first meeting will be on February 3. I will bring in some of the new series that we picked up over the Christmas break as well as other shows that I have that we have not watched yet. At this meeting we will decide what we want to watch this semester as well as figure out a few things, such as what are we going to do about the club after summer vacation. Well i hope to see you all again on Friday February 3, in library room 102 at 5:15-8:00pm. This is the same time as last year and did not change due to the fact that no one got back to me saying it was a bad time so i just assumed that this was a good time to have the meetings.
