October has been a busy month for the Anime Club. We had a small trip to Oni-Con in Houston, we had a team representing us at the JAS-SA Japan matsuri located at the Central Library, and we had members attend the PeeLander-Z concert. All of those events happened on the 20th - What a busy weekend!
Preparations for San-Japan: ZDA are going well, and we only have three weeks until Z-Day. :) We'll need volunteers to help out, so if anyone is interested, please let us know. I believe that it is going to be great, and we're working very hard to make it so.
Finally, I have a link that might be of interest off BoingBoing about Manga's Japanese decline -- and the copyright infringers who are stopping it. Take a look.
See you at the meeting! We're showing something Halloween themed this week!
Welcome to the Mizuumi Anime Club website. We're a Recognized Student Organization at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio Texas. We like Japanese animation.

Welcome to Fall '07
Welcome to all the new and returning members! I'm so happy to say that we had a great club rush and first meeting last week. Last week's meeting was our biggest ever, with 16 attendees, I believe. Bring your friends, neighbors, etc! We can break 20 attendeed - I just know it! ^_^
We have lots of good things planned for this semester: First and foremost is San Japan: ZDA, the one-day Anime convention that we have been working on. We're still on track to succeed in presenting that here at OLLU on November 10th. Tell everyone you know! It's only 5 bucks to get in for a day of guests, panels, dealers, video rooms, a cosplay contest, and a dance with a live band. It's going to be awesomeeeeeeeee!
We will also be having a special event in October, but I'm not quite ready to annouce what it is yet.
And of course in the Spring we'll be bringing back our Anime Extravaganza with free food and drinks while we watch some great Anime.
Finally, I want to let you know about a fundraiser that we have in the planning stages. I hope you'll all help us out in making a little money for the club to help us pay for our special events.
Arigato!

End of Semester
Good Morning, Members and Friends:
I'm pleased to say that we've wrapped for the semester on a fairly high note. We've finished Ceres, Celestial Legend and are looking forward to a new series in the Fall. We haven't scheduled our first meeting in August/September yet, but watch this space for info on that and on our Club rush activities.
To my great satisfaction, we've also been granted our first budget allocation from the Student Government Association. Thanks to an impassioned defense of our funds request by president Jose Luis De La Cruz, in the end we were awarded 2x the amount we originally asked for!!! Great job, sir!
We have some big plans for the summer and for next year: We're in talks with the people who are organizing San Japan to have an event on campusover the summer sometime soon, we're planning to join a group that will give us greater resources for our meetings , and we're planning to start on the road to self-sufficiency by having some fundraisers next fall.
All in all, as the advisor, I'm pretty happy with the way things are going right now. Our only issue is attendance; we need those of you who come regularly to the meetings to bring your friends and to help recruit new members!
If you have suggestions on how to make things better, please let myself of Jose Luis know.
Have a great summer!

Happy Spring Break!
I hope everyone is having a great Spring Break!
So far this semester, we've enjoyed episodes of Maburaho and Chobits, and we'll soon be starting a series called "Ceres, Celestial Legend." It's also known by its original Japanese title "Ayashi no Ceres - Tenkū Otogizūshi" or "Bewitching Ceres - Heavenly Fairy Tale" which I like but is apparently not cool enough for the North American market. ^_^ Hehe.

On February 23rd, we had our first Anime Extravaganza where we had Pizza & Drinks supplied by the club, and we started the new series Chobits. It was a good success, with several new people attending. We may make it a yearly occurrence!
Well, don't forget to come to our next meeting March 23rd, 2007. We'll be wrapping up Chobits soon so that we can get started with Ceres, Celestial Legend.
